Go North.ie is designed to assist the retailer in capitalising on the difference in the price of consumer goods and services between the north and south of Ireland.

The purpose of GoNorth Ltd is to allow Northern retailers to capitalise on the cross border differential in cost of living standards by giving them a presence on a southern web site to promote themselves and their products. The retailer will have a single page which will include: Business type, category, sub-category, photographs, write up, link to own web pages, vouchers and discounts.
Southern shoppers will be able to 'Find it' via a search for say, Dentist – Cosmetic – Newry. Select which dentist is giving the best value discounts, print the voucher and present to the dentist. 'Compare it' simply compares the price of a product between the north and the south. It has a link to the cheapest or closest retailer.
The 'Buy it' and 'Sell it' facility to allow northern (say) car dealers and private sellers to display in the south.
After experiencing the huge increase in the amount of people travelling from the Republic of Ireland to do their shopping in Northern Ireland in the last few years Go North.ie was born.

The aim is ultimately to get the Southern Shopper into the large variety of shops and businesses that Northern Ireland has to offer. We would hope to encourage our visitors to spend more time enjoying this part of Ireland and appreciating all we have. This would lead to increased revenue for our hotels, restaurants, pubs, leisure and associated businesses. We at GoNorth believe that there is a huge opportunity to capitalise on the current price differences and the strong Euro in this recessionary time.
Shoppers will now have the luxury of planning their shopping trip or break from their armchair. The on- site map facility will assist in directing them to their destination.Our website will allow the retailer to have a page on the website put together by the Go North design team advertising the business in the Republic of Ireland. They will be able to access their own page as they wish to change or update their information eg discounts, new stock, sales etc. There will be a facility to include on this page up to 6 photographs related to their business with a single click facility to their own website. .

Against that backdrop it is vital that we continue to market the world-class attractions, hidden gems and unique stories that Northern Ireland has to offer giving people more reasons to visit and equally important come back again.
The Northern Ireland Tourist board confirmed that southerner’s holidaying in Northern Ireland rose by 39%.Thousands of people from the Republic opted to forgo foreign travel during 2009 pumping £5 million into the Northern Ireland Economy every week last summer.
